You haven't practiced English for a few weeks. You open your review list and get stuck on a word that used to feel easy. Perhaps you should start again from lesson one.
Before you do, check a small set of words you have already studied. Some may come back quickly. Others will need another look. That gives you a clearer place to continue.
Try to remember before checking
A word can look familiar when the answer is right in front of you. That doesn't tell you whether you could remember it in a conversation.
Choose a word you studied before and try to recall it from its meaning. If it doesn't come, check the answer. Then use it in a sentence you might actually say. For postpone, for example: Let's postpone the meeting until Friday.
The sentence gives the word a use beyond a flashcard. At your next review, try to remember the word again before checking.
In an experiment with foreign-language vocabulary, learners remembered more words a week later when they continued testing themselves after their first correct answer, rather than only studying the words again.
A long list doesn't mean you've forgotten everything
In Engflow, words become due for review according to a schedule. After a break, many review dates may have passed. The list tells you which words are due, not how many you have forgotten.
Work through a portion you can pay attention to. If you start opening answers just to get through the list, that is a reasonable place to stop. You can leave some words for another session.
Be honest about whether you remembered each answer before checking. Engflow uses your answers when scheduling later reviews, so remembering a word and recognizing it after a hint are worth keeping separate.
Choose a moment to return
Before you finish, decide when you will practice again. Pick a moment that fits your day: after breakfast, perhaps, or during a train ride. There is no need to promise yourself a long session.

For today, you have a small set of words to check. For tomorrow, you have a time to come back. You don't need to catch up on every missed day before you can continue.
